🎃👻 HALLOWEEN ENERGY WAS IN FULL SWING! 🍬🧡
What a spooktacular day! Our annual Trick-or-Treat Parade was bursting with Halloween magic, giggles, and plenty of tricks and treats! From swishing dragon tails and the Cat in the Hat to our amazing teachers, community members, police officers, even Jessie from Toy Story, and so many other creative characters, the costumes did not disappoint!
The hallways were filled with little monsters, big smiles, and Halloween excitement around every corner. Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun and helped make this annual tradition so special! Thank you to the COMMUNITY!
One thing is certain… we have some seriously talented Halloween tricksters in our school family!

Who knew cookie decorating could bring everyone together? Even Dr. Ernst (our SUPERintendent) at LDF School rolled up his sleeves and joined the fun, helping our 5th-grade kiddos frost cookies! 🍪Smiles, sprinkles, frosting, and plenty of creativity filled the room as students showed off their decorating skills.
A little frosting, a lot of sprinkles, and memories made one cookie at a time! ❤️

🎃🧙♀️ LOOK OUT… VIOLA SWAMP IS IN THE BUILDING! 🧙♀️🎃 -- AND...other creepy creatures too, all from HalloweenTown, we think!
Green from head to toe and with a voice that can be heard clearly across the school, Mrs. Viola Swamp made her annual Halloween Eve visit to our kiddos! With a quick fly-in on her trusty broomstick, she brought a little Halloween magic, a few laughs, and some VERY important reminders about Halloween safety.
From watching for cars and crossing streets safely to staying with a trusted grown-up and checking those treats, Viola made sure our little ghosts and goblins are ready for a safe and spooktacular Halloween!

We reached out to the Lakeland Times Newspaper to share a photo of some of our 8th-grade students who had a fun candid photo taken of themselves in their LifeSkills class.
The Lakeland Times just called: The photo will be in the paper tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 30th, on page 7.

Just a bit of the info shared w/the newspaper: Their teamwork, cooperation, and dedication have earned them a special moment. From working together to tackling challenging tasks, these students continue to show that hard work, a positive attitude, and helping one another make a winning team! We are proud to see their efforts recognized and celebrated in our community! 👏💙
Sidenote: All parents have been notified and are super proud of their kiddos, as are WE! Congratulations!
And these students will be helping out with the food, etc., on Veterans Day next month.

One of our third graders (Millee BigJohn) at Lac du Flambeau Public School enjoyed a special lunch with the principal yesterday! 🍽️ On the menu was a chicken sandwich, and the conversation included two favorite things: math and the Milwaukee Brewers! ⚾️💙💛
Good food, great conversation, and a little Brewers spirit made for a wonderful lunchtime visit! 😊

*Update: Students will be permitted to wear full face masks during the trick-or-treat portion of the celebration in the small gym, as well as during their designated grade-level celebration time. Outside of these activities, full face masks should not be worn in classrooms, hallways, or other areas of the school.

Lunch, Learning, and a Little Sausage Racing Conversation!
Two third-grade girls (Azrael Peterson and Willow Awonohopay) from the same classroom enjoyed a special lunch with the principal today, and the conversation was full of fun surprises!
These animal-loving girls shared their favorite creatures—one thought snakes were cool, while the other had a soft spot for alligators. What made them so interesting? Their cool looks and scaly skin, of course. Perfect for the Halloween Season! 🐍🐊
The conversation then took a trip to the ballpark as the girls chatted about the Milwaukee Brewers and their favorite part of the game: watching the famous sausage race! 🌭🏃♂️
When asked what they love most about their classroom, both girls gave a shout-out to literacy and shared how much they enjoy learning about animals.
From scaly creatures to racing sausages, these two proved that lunch with the principal can be full of learning, laughter, and great conversation! ❤️📚

The 7th/8th grade football game date has been changed. The new date is Wednesday, October 14 at Hurley. 5 pm kickoff at Veterans Memorial Field in Hurley. There will be 7th/8th grade football practice after school on Tuesday, October 13 until 4:55 pm.

As part of our ongoing commitment to school safety, Lac du Flambeau Public School will be conducting a lockdown drill on Friday, October 23, 2026. These drills help students and staff practice the procedures we would use during an emergency and are an important part of maintaining a safe learning environment. Staff will review expectations with students in an age-appropriate manner to help ensure they feel prepared and supported. 🔥🐻 Fire Prevention Week! 🚒❤️
Smokey Bear made a special visit all the way from Alaska to visit Lac du Flambeau Public School Students! Students from 4K through 1st grade had the exciting opportunity to shake his hand and tell him thank you for always teaching us about fire safety. 🐻🔥
Our local firefighters and ambulance crew also stopped by! Students got to climb inside the emergency vehicles, take a closer look, and learn more about the important work our first responders do every day. 🚒🚑
What a fun and meaningful way to celebrate Fire Prevention Week! We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this experience special for our students. ❤️
