Warrior Families,
All students will be participating in the Wisconsin Forward Exam from Tuesday, April 7 through Friday, April 17. This statewide assessment is an important opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning and progress in key academic areas.
To help your child feel confident and perform their best, we ask for your support with the following reminders:
- Get a good night’s sleep each evening during the testing window. Well-rested students are better able to focus and do their best.
- Arrive at school on time each day. Testing will begin promptly in the morning, and late arrivals can be disruptive and may require make-up sessions.
- Eat a healthy breakfast to ensure your child has the energy they need.
- Encourage a positive mindset. Remind your child to take their time, read directions carefully, and simply do their best.
- Limit screen time in the evenings to promote better rest and focus.
- Maintain regular routines to help reduce stress and keep students feeling prepared.
Our staff is committed to creating a supportive and encouraging testing environment. We appreciate your partnership in helping students be prepared and confident throughout the assessment period.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school at 715-588-3838.
Thank you for your continued support.

Moments ago: LDF school held its annual Teddy Bear Parade! It's one of those heart-melting events where pure joy takes over the hallways 🧸Picture this: students arrive at school clutching their favorite teddy bears and stuffed animals—some are classic, a little worn from years of love, while others are bright, new, and dressed up in tiny outfits. There’s an excited buzz all morning as kids introduce their bears to friends like they’re real classmates. When parade time comes, the hallways transform into a cheerful route lined with smiling teachers, staff, and even families. Music plays softly overhead, and one class at a time proudly walks through, holding their teddy bears high, & pulling them in wagons.
Teddy Bear King & Queen were: Denny Salo and Suzi Hartzheim.

Day Two of Read Across America Week brought some very special guest readers to our classrooms! 👮♂️📚
Our local police officers & tribal judge traded their patrol cars & office chairs for tiny classroom chairs and sat among students to share favorite stories. The rooms were filled with excitement as students listened closely, asked great questions, and enjoyed seeing their community helpers in a whole new role. Moments like these remind us that reading brings everyone together. A big thank you to our officers & tribal judge for taking time out of their day to inspire a love of books and learning. The smiles, laughter, and eager listeners made Day Two a huge success! 📖✨

Read Across America Celebration with Special Guest Readers! 📚
Lac du Flambeau school had a wonderful time early this morning celebrating Read Across America Day, a nationwide event that encourages children to discover the joy of reading. To make the day even more special, we welcomed several guest readers who shared their time and favorite stories with our students. (More Guest Readers, tomorrow too!)
We were honored to have local police officers and even a tribal judge join our classrooms as guest readers. Students loved listening to them read aloud and talk about why reading is important in their jobs and everyday lives. It was a great opportunity for students to connect with community leaders while enjoying some great books. The visit helped remind our students that reading is a skill used in every career—from keeping our communities safe to making important decisions in court. Seeing these community role models share their love of books made the day extra meaningful. Thank you to our guest readers for taking the time to visit our school and inspire our students to keep reading every day. Events like this make Read Across America a fun and memorable celebration for everyone! 📖✨
